We welcome you to explore our collection of original work and links to dedicated to presenting information and discourse related to the Zapatista struggle for democracy in Mexico, and their call for an intercontinental struggle against neoliberalism and for humanity. For background information on the Zapatistas, (a.k.a. EZLN) see the web pages of Acción Zapatista including the Chiapas '95 archives and a comprehensive survey of internet resources relating to the Zapatista movement.

Our work was inspired by Zapatistas! Documents of the Revolution, an electronic and anticopyright publication including such texts as The Southeast in Two Winds. In January 1995, we began a multimedia project which has led to the creation of this web-site and the formation of The ZapNet Collective, a network of students and activists based in the ACTlab at The University of Texas at Austin. This project includes and invites participation from academic colleagues, media professionals and grass-roots activists from around the world. The views expressed here have been collectively compiled and discussed; they share our hopes for the people of Chiapas and for others struggling for autonomy, justice, and freedom!

Zapnet is interested in utilizing new technologies to promote dialogues and share information within an interactive, multimedia rich environment. This index has been designed as a map and guide to assist you and answer some of the questions you may have about this site, an ongoing project . These pages have been assembled in a way that allows and welcomes your participation and feedback. Your views and opinions are important to us.

They each examine the problem without subjecting it to direct experimentation using our little friend Durito as the main character and/or simulated device. Will you tell us a story next?
Multimedia demos galore (right). "The Revolution Will Be Digitized" (working title) is an interactive multimedia project about the Zapatistas (a.k.a. EZLN), an armed indigenous revolutionary movement in Chiapas, Mexico. Inspired by the rich poetic narrative of this struggle, the work employs hypertext navigation of rhisomatic modules in order to examine the construction of political identity through digital networks.
Participation (left). Write in Spanish or English your thoughts on "economic", "political", "social" and "cultural" conditions under neo-liberalism in an intercybernetal meeting in the autonomous zone.
