I am a history professor at Texas A&M University-Commerce, and I organize events for women's history month. This year we have as our theme 'Women in Mexico and Latin America.' I would like to arrange to have a speaker come to campus to address our students. Since I am a medieval historian and largely unfamiliar with the history Mexico and Latin America, one of my colleagues directed my attention to an article by Carol Hayman about a delegation to a Zapatista women's weaving cooperative. I think our students (and I) could really benefit from learning more about the women of Zapatista, so I am seeking help in locating a speaker who would be willing to come to our campus this March. We have a few hundred dollars for transportation/speaker's fee, and can put someone up for a night or two - although sine I am talking about one speach a speaker might choose to arrive and leave on the same day. Can anyone suggest names of people I might contact? or be willing to take on the job themselves? I would very much appreciate any help. Thanks.
