Is it over?

I’m confused.  I figured my last task in college would be a huge exam, a thesis paper, some mind numbing assignment that I would dread and stay awake for days accomplishing.  But ever since I took my first ACTLab class the college system I knew has been thrown out the window.  My final project was fun, I got to make something I’ll keep around until it falls apart, but most of all I did something new.  I kind of thought that by the time I graduated from UT i’d be an expert in one field and know only about that one field and that’s kind of how life would be.  But EFH and WS have challenged me to reach out beyond my regular learning and realize that you’re not ever really done learning and it’s never too late to learn something new or want to learn something new.  The world is full of exciting little things that brings joy to people.  Slow exposure shots, personal security systems, poetry, film, even stalking people on the internet, there’s totally more to these things and if you dive in you may realize you enjoy some aspect of them.  I will continue to seek new ideas and challenge myself by building stuff.  It’s just too much fun not to do.  I’m definitely and ACTLabber for life.

Weird Science

Semester two of ActLab.  This semester I’m enrolled in Weird Science.  So far so good. We’ve had a “Make-A-Thon” instead of first projects and it went off pretty well for me.  I explored the science of hot air balloons and realized that it’s a lot harder to make one fly than I thought.  Oh well, it was fun and I got to play with fire.  It even led to my roommates and I having a small little camp fire in our living room.  I’ve got some ideas for project two but I think I’m going to need some help.

ACTLab

When I was about finished with my first creation I realized that I didn’t want to continue this project.  I wasn’t enjoying it and I felt like I was kind of just forcing myself to do it.  Luckily it was Wednesday, I jumped in my car drove over to the CMB and Joey and I began to think.

That’s kind of what the whole semester was like.  Not really knowing what was going on but having help from all sorts of people that some way or another were tied into the ACTLab.  It’s been a cool semester and I look forward to the next.
