In my view, it is a classic example of scapegoating in the service of even less scrupulous (Mitnick is no angel) careerists. Unfortunately, the discussion was not included in Virtual Culture because it was too tangential to my main argument. I admit this. As a result, I'm going to spin it off as a separate piece.
